Samsung granted patent for smart contact lenses with a tiny camera

In an ever expanding universe of wearables, Samsung is doing its best to keep all bases covered. Today, the publication of a patent application shows the company is developing smart contact lenses.

The patent application, filed in South Korea, shows a contact lens equipped with a tiny display, a camera, an antenna, and several sensors that detect movement and the most basic form of input using your eyes: blinking.

ABSTRACT

It is disclosed about the smart contact lens for the augmented reality and manufacture and operation method. The disclosed smart contact lens comprises the display unit it is arranged on the first contact lens of the display unit, placed in the center of the first contact lens, and the first contact lens and display unit circumference, the connected peripheral device, and display unit, and the protective film covering the peripheral device. The disclosed manufacturing method comprises the display unit in the display unit circumference on the process, of forming the display unit and the process, of mounting the display unit to the center of the first contact lens and the first contact lens, the display unit on the process, of forming the connected peripheral device and the first contact lens, and the process of forming the protective film covering the peripheral device.
